*	Message	I AM A VOTER IN YOUR DISTRICT. I am writing today to urge you to support a moderate increase in our state's beer tax, and use the additional revenues generated to fund addiction treatment, recovery, and prevention programs, as well as public safety services. Senator Floyd Prozanski and Representative Ben Cannon have proposed a reasonable compromise to HB 2461, the original beer tax bill introduced during this session. They suggest creating a low rate of 1.5 cents per serving of beer brewed by small breweries, and a higher, 7 cent rate for beer produced by big, out of state brands. Their proposal is similar to a bill adopted in Alaska in 2003, and would ensure that Oregon's landmark craft brew industry is not adversely affected.
